With no further ado...
5. Ursula - The Little Mermaid
She's conniving, vicious, selfish, and intelligent. She has a way with words and lures people in with her brain. And, she can make herself beautiful if she so wishes XD And, she has 2 dedicated henchmen haha

A link to an image from the book on her side of the story

Plus, she has a badass fortress:

4. Bellatrix Lestrange - Harry Potter
Well, she's just a bit mad, isn't she? Like Ophelia (Hamlet) but dark. Isn't it marvelous to watch? She's unredeemable, and I think it's magnificent when a work pulls that off. There are just some villains that are completely unredeemable. That's what 'the system' is for. There's no making her sane, and I think, ironically, the only thing keeping her confined is her obsessive love for Voldemort. Wouldn't surprise me if he used love/etc to control her. She's a character that could be completely boundless (much like Lisa Rowe who makes it closer to the top of this list.)

3. Col. Hans Landa - Inglourious Basterds
Such a happy villain. And so vicious. When the movie opens with the scene in the farm house, you know, he's going to be marvelous. And Christoph Waltz has a way of just sinking into a character. He totally made the film for me.

And this secret confession from tumblr explains it all:

2. Lisa Rowe - Girl, Interrupted
She's lovable, brash, and plum crazy. She's too crazy to stay institutionalized, and that's something in and of itself. And she makes a marvelous foil for Winona's character who might not be crazy enough. This is also one of the few characters that Angelina Jolie has played that I enjoy. This, and her role in Foxfire. But then, I love rough, dramatic, and gritty and most of her recent stuff seems more polished. But I digress... Here's images to explain more :)

1. Light - Death Note
How often do we see the villain as the main character? L is also there, trying to foil Light (and I love L to pieces), but what makes the series is the conflict and absolute terror that Light instigates through his 'righteous' serial killing. It's a bit chilling. It's also very ironic that his name is Light when he has gone so dark.

And live action (Tatsuya Fujiwara):

Honourable Mention: The Joker as played by Heath Ledger [R.I.P.] in The Dark Knight. (I seem to love characters that are a bit mad.)
Also, did you guys know that there's a Villains Wikia? There goes the rest of my day... XD I might add to the honourable mentions list. (And... it's a sign that I've loved HP too long if I automatically write certain words with their British spellings, lol~)

Date: 2013-04-18 12:48 pm (UTC)Gah, Christophe Waltz.... yeah, that secret is very accurate. *coughs* You know, I always get him and Tim Roth (who always makes a lovely villain, and would've played Snape if Burton hadn't snagged him for Planet of the Apes) mixed up - they look so much alike.
I'm not a fan of Jolie, nor the movie, but yeah... she was a freaking nutcase in that. I did like Gia, though, which is just another form of self-destruction.
They couldn't have found a better actress to portray Bella! Helena is probably just as insane as Bella. Being married to Tim Burton, you kind of have to be. ;)
Live action Death Note??? MUST FIND!
LOVED Heath Ledger as the Joker. LOVE.
Brilliant list!

Date: 2013-04-18 12:58 pm (UTC)I know! I am going to have to watch Django Unchained because of that man...
I actually really liked Girl, Interrupted. *is odd* And yeah, I keep meaning to watch Gia. I think it, and one or 2 others with Jolie are in my queue, but I'm not rushing to watch them, lol
XD Indeed.
Live action Death Note avail on amazon:
Movie 1: Death Note
Movie 2: Death Note: The Last Name (they also have this one on blu-ray if you prefer that)
Movie 3: L: Change the World
Be forewarned about the horribly CG (computer graphic) demon as seen above in the live action pictures. Other than that, it's wonderful and everyone who's watched it (the first one) has loved it that I'm aware of. :) The actors who play Light & L are both superb!
(Also, why didn't I think of Star Wars? HAHA! Love the Vader icon! &hearts)
